Re: Update: a working method of rooting ES series
Happy to upload a photo but I don't have edit rights on the wiki. Don't really want to upload it here as we are quite off-topic at this point. Maybe I'll start another thread in the HW section with the photos. Need to tend to holiday stuff now though. As for the 30 seconds or so, nothing works in th...

Re: Update: a working method of rooting ES series
I noticed (too late) another thing. Be very careful when trying to start interactive shells, as they might wanna load /etc/profile ! Why, because this profile contains instructions to re-format, or switch FW, which can easily fail in the wrong circumstances. Well I should have read that sooner... :...

Re: Update: a working method of rooting ES series
... it looks like Samsung started scrambling the output (see http://forum.samygo.tv/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=5026&p=37121). No. There is no scrambling. You're cable or settings are messed up. See: http://forum.samygo.tv/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=4974#p37816 Read the thread I cited. I know the ca...

Re: Update: a working method of rooting ES series
VDLinux prompt is via (mamaich's?) telnetd. I can't get the serial console working because it looks like Samsung started scrambling the output (see http://forum.samygo.tv/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=5026&p=37121). The telnetd VDLinux prompt happily echoes whatever I type as I type it (letters, numb...

Re: Update: a working method of rooting ES series
Encountered something stunningly simple last night :) Been spending some free time on and off the last few weeks looking at the filesystem images for my new UN46ES7500 w/ the lastest 1041.1 firmware (updated long before I saw this site). Serial out is scrambled somehow, DNS hacks for downgrades don'...

Re: Update: a working method of rooting ES series
Got it, thanks.
Mount path and everything look ok but:
<snip>
Copying Files
Running script
Error: can't find samygo.log!!!"
No camera app launching either. What return codes do you expect out of the Open() and Execute()? Is this javascript API documented somewhere?

Re: Update: a working method of rooting ES series
Not having much luck with any of the multiupload links from the US. Is it possible to make it available somewhere else? Been playing with this older widget and it happily copies libm into /dtv but the loader doesn't seem to be picking up your copy (running browser, camera emp, etc). What does enviro...

Re: Update: a working method of rooting ES series
Ah, sorry, bit of a n00b and hadn't quite looked up what was meant on step #1 (prepare development environment). So I can confirm that that does work and allow me to copy the "app" onto my TV and the app appears to run but the web broswer *never* takes the 10 seconds to startup and I don't...

Re: TV D-Series Firmware Downgrade (SamyGO Proof of Concept)
That isn't an option... it does it automatically on my TV whenever you change a network setting. If you explicitly stop it, the firmware appears to leave things that require network access greyed out in the menus. Anyway, as I said, it doesn't appear that you have a fw downgrade hosted for my model,...
