The new update of Samy's Smart view app no longer has the search button. my main use of the app was search. It also gives me messages about not being able to control connected devices... I don't want to, I just want the remote! Anyone know where I can get a copy of the old one? my phone is jailbroken.

A LAN CAM would be an improvement if you had a bad wireless signal. I don't have that problem. Probably quicker to start up which would be a plus as timer recordings when the TV is off are a problem. For me it would mean running yet another Cat5e cable through the walls :( not to mention the price.....

Yes, Diablo Cam WiFi works well. I had Matrix Cam Air before. Really bad on Samy TV's. I even modified it with Power supply and aerial. Rubbish.
