You cannot record from a HDMI source because of HDCP Encryption. With TV and root impossible. If you want to know, how HDMI can be recorded, send me a message, it is not part of this forum.

Does the HDD have its own power supply or is it just connectet with USB cable to the TV? Most TV's only support 500 mA the newer one, like mine (F6340) support 1000 mA over USB.
