Re: [!!!] Rooting LATEST H firmware

The best solution would probably to setup an "official" SamyGo DNS server which blocks access to the various samsungotn.net URLs listed above. That way all people would have to do is enter a manual DNS server ip in the tv's network settings. No need to fiddle with router settings in such a solution.

Re: Disable OTN

Yes, he probably meant to say "block the first 3 URLs". ;-)

Re: Disable OTN

Hm, I'd be cautious about blocking the entire msecnd.net domain. It's part of the Microsoft Azure platform and used for many, many other services as well - which would no longer work in such a case. Why do you thing that we should block that domain as well? Wouldn't the Azure service only be used to...

What's the difference between "operating" and "development"?

Re: [!!!] Rooting LATEST H firmware

Uh, that's bad.

Setting up a DNS proxy which blocks the TV form pinging the Samsung OTN servers would be the best solution we have right now.

I'll be able to set something up, as soon as somebody can verify which URL the tv uses. Is it just the single domain racocvr posted above?

Thanks, can someone second that?

Btw, are you guys sure that they didn't just move the option to change the OTN Support value to the extended service menu? The "FACTORY+3SPEED" one?

Re: [!!!] Rooting LATEST H firmware

modify the DNS records to point to a different ip... just on itself by using loopback / 127.0.0.1 or something. Just using a custom dns server and blocking the tv from accessing the update server would probably be the easiest way. I'm sure I could set something up for the loyal SamyGo users... Does...

Re: [!!!] Rooting H series (updated 29/03/2015)

new, it is what TV? Any TV with OTN Support greyed out :) This is actually an interesting question, as there do seem to be some people running the latest firmware who are still able to disable the OTN Support option. For example, I just bought a new F6270 on Amazon that shipped with firmware versio...

Re: [!!!] Rooting LATEST H firmware

No because users with OTN greyed out will have no chance of using it EVER and will loose chance for root!!!! I'm sorry, but I don't seem to understand this point. What's the difference compared to the current situation? Root only works up to version 2310. Anyone with a newer version won't be able t...

Re: [!!!] Rooting LATEST H firmware

I'm using an H6270, so it should be the T-MST version right? Wouldn't it be possible to make root available for at least up to the version which still have the OTN Support option? Btw, I'm not at home right now, but I thing I remember that the option to disable OTN Support wasn't in the same menu it...
