LN32B550 Streaming Features

Postby toastysoul » Sat Mar 19, 2011 12:36 am

I've tried to search, but apparently, the words I'm using are "too common" or something, so if I could get someone more familiar with samygo (yes I'm a N. America user) to point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful.

Basically, I'd like to stream video/music/pictures from my phone to my LN32B550. I'm using twonky, and it works beautifully with XBMC. I'm hoping to use it to stream directly to the TV. I do not have any sort of network adapter for the TV, but I'm sure you guys know where to get one. Since the TV does not advertise DLNA compatibility, I assume it's not there, and I'm not sure but it seems like samygo has firmwares that can add that support in? I know DLNA is supported on the LN32C550, is that TV so different from the LN32B550 that I have?

BTW, would work wonders for people unfamilar with samygo if you had a general annoucement in the forum describing "What Samygo is".

Thanks in advance. :D

Do you have network support on LNxxB550? For European models, they do not have Ethernet port... So we need to have internet first on our TV's first...

B550 does not have DLNA, right. But you can use NFS and/or Samba sharing features. With them, you can watch movies from your phone as it plugged to TV. But you do not have any control from your phone, like rr/fw. It work as your phone connected to TV's usb port. So, there is no real benefit to do that via WiFi/USB emulation layer. Just plug your phone to TV directly, It will charge your phone also :)

Well that's something. I was hoping for a wireless streaming experience eventually, but I support that will need a new TV. :-/
