Upgrading from 3005.1 widget hack to 3009.2

There are so many posts flying about that I'm finding it difficult to work out whether I can upgrade from 3005.1 with the widget hack to 3009.2 and stlll be able to access my SMB shares. It looks like it is possible but I want to make sure so I was hoping someone could validate this approach for me.

1. Hotel mode hack the TV by following https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ ... ady_hacked
2. Upgrade to 3009.2

Will this then mean that run.sh on the USB stick will still be executed when the TV is swtiched on as it what currently happens? I don't need to worry about PVR functionality as it's enabled by default on my model (46C7000) and I never use it anyway!

AFAIK run.sh is being executed on T-VALDEUC-3009 after HmH...

On reading http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/s ... ing_C5xx(x),_C65x(x)over_Hotel_mode again, it looks like if the TV is already hacked with the widget hack, one doesn't use the channel or settings export and instead creates the USB from the image and then runs first_run.sh. As the image has been taken down and there are no instructions for creating the script, it looks like I'll have to wait for the new version. Or can i just run through the non-hacked TV instructions anyway?

I finally bit the bullet and updated. Was very happy to see that I didn't need to peform any new hack as the widget hack has been retained.

Ignore that, the TV downloaded the firmware but it didn't actually install it. I got a pop=up message telling me I could upgrade the firmware. When I went into the menus, it showed 3009 in the alternate firmware slot and only when I selected it did it install it. Now I'm definitely on 3009 and I'll have to rehack it. Will do so in the day or two and update this thread in case anyone is holding off and waiting to see the results.
