Extended Service Menu after Enabling Hotel Mode

Post by habee »

As a frequent reader of this forum and owner of a PN50C550 I would like to contribute something to the community.
The reason why I am very interested in modifying Samsung firmwares is, that I currently own a PN50C550 and a Blueray BD-C5500. Next year
I will return to Europe and I plan to take them with me. So it would be good, if i could use them in Europe, and modyfiing firmware is one step to this. (I know
that it would not be possible to use the tuners, but the Set should work using HDMI, as I have a Sat-Receiver using it.)

This is how my Info Screen in Service Mode looks: Image

I got extended options in the service Menu after enabling and disabling Hotel Mode. This is what I did:

Enter Service Menu using : Mute - 1 - 8 - 2 - On
Go into "Option"

It shows this options: Image

Go into "Hotel Option"
Enabling Hotel Mode
Then "Clone USB to TV" (to get a current channellist)
After that i Disabled Hotel Mode
Pressing "Exit" to get into Option Menu again

Then it looked like this: Image

and I got much more options when I entered the Sub, Config and Sound Submenus:

I enabled PVR Mode, but I cannot see a difference. How can I check if this is working?

Thanks for all the work

Bye habee

EDIT 19.01.2011:

The above procedure works on a PN50C550 with 1016.0 or 1014.0-Firmware only. Right now I have a PN50C590-Board in m Set which I bought as sapre part (if something goes wrong :) ). This has Firmware 1004.0 on it an it does not have the Clone TV to USB-Option in the Hotel Mode Settings. But with this firmware I can accesss the Top Debug Menu over Ex-Link:

You have to press the following sequence (blind) on the console :

Code: Select all

[SERIAL INPUT MANAGE] 1-th ENABLE Magic serial input match!

[SERIAL INPUT MANAGE] 2-th ENABLE Magic serial input match!

You will get the same extended menu if you'll press 0000 while "Advanced" menu item is active. Read service manual for your model (if you can find it), it is explained there.

That definetely does not work on this model. You have to go through the procedure I described above. It is also not enough to just enable and disable Hotel Mode, you have to
download channel list to USB. Only after doing this the extended options get available.

I do not have one, can you give me a source (I already did a search on elektrotanya)?

I have seen that main units for this Plasma are available for auround 80 $. Maybe I will buy an extra main unit to have one to play around...

Wasn't there a code to enter hotel mode ?
Try this:
How to Enter Interactive Menu:-
This mode can be entered directly by pressing key combination (MUTE + 1 + 1 + 9 + ENTER) when TV is powered ON.
