Upgraded to UN55JS700D (LOL -- questions to follow)

HLR5078W DLP still works. About 9 years old. Mirror problem -- vertical band left side of screen. Not gonna try a repair.

Bulb and color wheel good, so's the system board.

FOB: Pasadena, California, but will deliver parts if you supply round trip business class airline tix...

Repair -> Replace

Don't get me wrong. I struggled with the decision for 6 months.

I found a few posts about the mirror repair, all were risky. (The two mirrors are stuck on the tunnel with double-sided tape. They have to be realigned exactly and any fingerprints or smudges will appear on the screen.) I also know that once the mirror is repaired, the bulb and then the color wheel will stop working.

Too bad cause I truly loved the DLP and it was perfect for my needs: streaming from an old Boxee and an old RCA TiVo DirecTV (not hi-def).
