FYI 51D495 works @550

Postby JayDee » Wed Sep 21, 2011 11:43 am

Got me a 51"D495 last week and via the servicemenu changed it to a 550 this morning. Borrowed a samsung wifi dongle and everything todo with allshare is working. Both upnp servers are seen and DLNA from my HTC DHD works as it should.

Just wanted to pass the info along :)

Totally missed the 570 option, that too works of course.

If anyone that knows reads this, please correct me if i am wrong, but the 4 and 5 D-Series tv´s use mstar and 6 > use armv7?

Do not wanna try to set the tv to a 6 series if it wont boot due to it expecting another processor...

I got a 'real' LE32D550 but i could not find many info on the forum for it.
This TV got some consumer awards in our country (Netherlands) so it was pretty cheap and a lot are sold. It would be great if i could enable the pvr options, or gain internet @ tv / custom apps.

I'm a long time linux user but all i find in the forums was for the 4-digits series (5xxx, 4xxx) but not much for D5xx series.
I can enter the service menus, but the hotel->usb-> sub menu trick does not show pvr option or internet tv options. Looking at the firmware, this is running mstar chipset. (mst4deuc-1024.1)
How does this TV working? Is the mstar SoC integrated into the mainboard, and another cpu runs the 'tv'? Or whole tv runs on one SoC from mstar?

What would be the options to exploit it? Kernel exploits by tcp/udp + netcat to gain root?
