Updating components of SamyGO widget?
Updating components of SamyGO widget?
Is it possible to update busybox version manually or it has been built specifically for the TV OS and can't be easily replaced ?
I can't find the core thread on the widget for a better place to ask this, and I can't find much about busybox (ftp server update) either despite searching for like, throughout the day, I think it added up to 30 minutes together.
Nothing wrong with it, just maybe if it's possible then why not.

Also, what about editing the strings in ".so" files, is that perfectly safe as long as filesize isn't changed or it's ok to change filesize too?
Re: Updating components of SamyGO widget?
You can replace busybox binary if you want in /mnt/bin... strings are hardcoded so you have to leave exactly same size and structure.

Re: Updating components of SamyGO widget?
Thanks, There is nothing in mnt\bin, it's empty and last time it was modified was in 2010 (TV was bought in 2010-11 somewhere)
Oh, this is a UE40D6750 TV, refurbished.
There's one busybox here: (along with some sh files)
And one here:
But is this really safe to just copy the same exact one that I download from latest on the website meant for linux ?
The correct server defaults are already in the bin?
There's other people that use the TV and bricking it would be very bad.

Re: Updating components of SamyGO widget?
TV has its own (/bin very limited one), and other is SamyGO's one.
Why do you want to update busybox? Just to "play" or you lack some specific command/stuff?

Re: Updating components of SamyGO widget?
Well, maybe I am nitpicking, but I use one of these PVR programs and I get disconnected usually after an hour, I thought it could be the server timing out or something, or that's up to the client?
The other thing is speed, 8MB/s kinda not maxing out the USB2, but it'd be perfectly okay with something like 20 or 15, I have a HDD connected to a Sata->USB converter, I haven't figured out yet what makes this 8 MB/s limit, but I saw other people mentioning the same limit so it just is the TV it self then, or the network card inside it, I use wired ethernet.

Re: Updating components of SamyGO widget?
I noticed myself that 1h disconnect (on E series, with brand new busybox!), not sure any fix has ever been found. You can try to add timeouts to ftpd into run.sh:
Not sure it has any effect, I've never been patient enough to wait another hour
8MB/s is expected since TV has got only (weak) 100Mb ethernet.
For both reasons, better focus on offline or realtime decrypting (don't ask me, I know nothing about D )
Code: Select all
[...]/busybox ftpd -t 600 -T 600000 -w / &

Re: Updating components of SamyGO widget?
Hmm, interesting, I'll see what I can do, it's kinda quite annoying that files get corrupted after the disconnect and then it's overwrite without prompt, so it's tricky and takes micro effort.
But the TV's FTP doesn't run unless, something special with updating or.. ?
So you simply updated/replaced the samygo's "busybox" binary file directly and using ftp, no telnet or anything needed?, directly the same file from the site like this:
If it's that easy then great, just need to be sure.
