TV turns on by itself

Post by mattberlin »

Hello guys,

for some reason my TV LE32B679 turns on itself intermittently. Do you have any idea what could cause this and what to investigate?

Best regards
Matthias

Timer?

possible this is hw problem (keeping in mind your previous problem about no signal popup). B series become old enough to get damaged because of age :)

No, this happens intermittently. Most days it doesn't. But sometimes it does - esp. during night time.

How can one prevent this?
Is it imaginable that the LAN connection might cause the TV to boot?

Odd. Is it still doing this? If my tv turned on intermittently at night I'd be creeped out!

Hello.
Once I read about your problem in another thread in this forum.
My UE40B8000 did the same but it happened only two or three times in its life (4 y.o.)
The reason is probably around the capacitors on power supply board.
Have you ever heard any "clicks" when the TV is off?
This is another sign.
Sometimes one of those clicks can switch on the televison.
Look for any puffy capacitors...

Hello together,

thank's a lot for your responses!

@bugficks
Where can I check out the boot reasons?

@ps282
Yes indeed, this is really annoying!

@pertecara
Wouldn't broken capacitors cause the TV not to work at all?

Best regards
Matthias

they could cause completely odd behaviour if they are, lets say in a state between intact and totally broken.
like short irregular voltage changes
some capacitors also have (limited) self-healing capabilities.

i used to have an uexxc6000 that had a similar behavior, including long boot time or unwanted shutdowns, this was fixed by replacing the MB
//UE40C6500 @ T-VALDEUC 3011 // rooted manual HotelMode style // PVR to NFS via 18MB on-the-fly sparse XFS //
FYI: you can close your ssh session with SamyGO with

Code: Select all

~.
If you can't fix it using dvct tape, you are not using enough dvct tape.
