It doesn't work with almost any mobile device, generally not enough audio out power. Better use a computer at its maximum volume, with IR transmitter very close to TV bottom right corner.

Did you at least read the link you've quoted?
Public rooting method doesn't work anymore for:

E-series 5xxx/6xxx with firmware T-MST10PDEUC greater or equal to 2000.2

That's why it's strongly advised everywhere NOT TO UPGRADE FIRMWARE.
Now you need donor's new method. (Yes, 2004.1 is greater or equal to 2000.2 )
