AC3 hdmi -> optical pass through

While this works for Xbox360, I wonder why it does not work for Samsung Blu-Ray player (BD-P1580). The thing must be the HDMI handshake or something like that which detects that the TV can output only stereo, thus the BD player sends only stereo.

Or is there some software hack to allow this?
