I tried various folders with full write and read permission without success. What I also noticed, using "browse" function to select a folder not all available folders are shown

Madness ..

Could you launch the PVRDecoder as administrator (right-click PVRDecoder, and select "Run as administrator") ...

Any difference ?

I started with admin rights, no difference. For this test I used the default C:\temp file which was empty after the decoder completed the conversion. I also verified that the temp file has all read and write permissions.

This is the log resume I copied (to avoid trouble I x'ed the original text:
14:12:39: Launching decoder process:
14:12:39: "C:\temp\drmdecrypt.exe" -hw "C:\temp\xxxxxxxxxxxxx.srf" "C:\temp\xxxxxxxxxxxxx.key" "C:\temp\2013.12.02_19h15_xxxxxxxxxxxxx.ts"
14:12:42: DRMDecrypt says -1 b of -1 b processed.
14:12:42: Removing DRMDECRYPT from work-folder..
14:12:42: Operation finished .. Waiting for user..

It didn't work for me the first time, but I found the problem. SamygoSO was not executable. A chmod 755 solved it.

Ok I have managed somehow to root to the TV but when I try to record something the TV tells me I need to format the usb drive (VFAT) despite I can access it no problem considering i completed the root process.

Is this normal considering this will obviously destroy the "data file"?
I have read that the usb drive must be 2 TB or over while the one I have available at the moment is 1Tb: can this be the cause?
Once formatted with the TV method though it does record fine although when I connect it to the PC it asks me to be format it again to let me access it.

Any help appreciated cause I am at a complete loss now.

I think you have been caught in a format war between PC and TV :-)

The TV "wants" the EXT3-format, as that is its native preferred format. The PC has no clue about EXT3, unless you install some supporting driver(s)
The PC "wants" the NTFS-format, as that is its native preferred format. The TV has no clue about NTFS (at this point)

However, both PC and TV "understands" FAT32.

Try formatting your device as FAT32 using your PC, and put the "data file" on it.
Maybe also create a folder in root called "CONTENTS" .. Experiment a little :-)

It should actually be a walk in the park, unless you got some special situation going on ..

In order to play my own files and also have PVR recording, i simply put two partitions on my 2.5" 1TB HDD. First, i created the two partitions in Windows (NTFS). Then on the TV, i selected the last partition for TV recordings, and the TV formatted it as EXT3. So i can put my movie files on NTFS via USB on the PC, and get the recordings (to archive) via PVRDecoder. You could access the EXT3 partition with a tool like UFS Explorer, but really, it's no use, as the decoding of the recordings has to be done with the help of the TV. On my old Samsung C-series, you could get the files off the EXT3 partition and decode them "offline".

Hi there,

Unfortunately I am too inexpert to experiment as I have really no clue what to do so all suggestions will be much appreciated.

I have formatted the usb drive as fat32, with a little sw i found online, or i think the rooting wouldn't have worked.

I will try to create the contents folder as suggested, thank you.

Thank you very much i will try this too!
So the 1 TB USB is fine cause the guide says you need at least 2 TB.

Can you please also tell me if on this tv i can watch ripped blue-rays, iso files etc. and if there is any trick to play the unsupported ones?
I am still caught in the setup to have been able to experiment anything unfortunately so if you can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Weird guide... yes, 1 TB is fine. I also used a 16 GB USB stick successfully.

If the codec is supported, but the file types (.iso etc.) are not, you must pack it into a supported container. For example .iso DVD movies, you can extract it, then pack it into an MKV container with MakeMKV.
