Re: [App] HDMI 5.1 audio passthrough patch E/F/H (MST only)
I have tried with ARC but it doesn't work (at least natively). Are you sure about the ARC passthrough?zoelechat wrote:Because it's already the main and only function of ARC to do passthrough natively, so there's nothing to patch.
Could you please give me some hints...
My setup is pretty simple
Code: Select all
[AppleTV] -> HDMI1 [SAMSUNG F6500] HDMI2 (ARC) -> Pioneer BCS414
If I play something with the Samsung (e.g. TV or movie through the native player) AC3 is passed through ARC.
If I play something from the AppleTV, no audio is transmitted to the Pioneer Receiver. The TV clearly identifies the incoming stream as AC3, as shown in the Settings-Audio (Dolby Digital is not grayed out).
Thnx
Re: [App] HDMI 5.1 audio passthrough patch E/F/H (MST only)
Maybe that's wrong, you shouldn't configure it to output AC3, maybe passthrough, native, PCM or whatever function you have. I can't patch ARC for it to do what it already does. Something's probably wrong in your setup, no idea what, I just know that ARC is buggy unstable crap, maybe the reason why you have issue.axel17 wrote:The AppleTV is configured to output AC3 despite what is attached to.
This patch has nothing to do with ARC, and will never have. HDMI to SPDIF passthrough only.
I do NOT receive any PM. Please use forum.

Nevermind for ARC, I am considering switching to a SONOS playbar which connects through Opticalzoelechat wrote:This patch has nothing to do with ARC, and will never have. HDMI to SPDIF passthrough only.
In that configuration it should work fine, shouldn't it?
I'll probably need to patch EDID though...
Re: [App] HDMI 5.1 audio passthrough patch E/F/H (MST only)
It shouldaxel17 wrote:In that configuration it should work fine, shouldn't it?
It seems your TV's EDID already accepts AC3 (Dolby Digital ungreyed) or AppleTV doesn't care about it and forcibly send AC3, so you might need to FakeEDID only if you expect DTS to passthrough as well.axel17 wrote:I'll probably need to patch EDID though...

You know what?!?
I've applied the patch and now I have AC3 on ARC as well!!!
Somehow Samsung blocked the AC3 on ARC with the same mechanism...
Well done.
Thanks a lot!!!!

It was obvious to me that you had already tried before asking, but good to know anywayaxel17 wrote:You know what?!?

Re: [App] HDMI 5.1 audio passthrough patch E/F/H (MST only)
Yeah, that's absolutely normal, patch checks E/F/H series functions and use only existing/accurate ones for your TV.
And since exeTV AND exeAPP patching is needed, most functions in one are not in other, so there's even more 'failed' than usual

Re: [App] HDMI 5.1 audio passthrough patch E/F/H (MST only)
I am really enjoying the audio passthrough patch
I wonder if there is a way to make it permanent in the TV flash so I can remove the USB drive?
