I advice you to use vmware + ubuntu/centos and one of available pre-compiled toolchains. You can`t edit so files, you just can recompile, but only if you have sources (we don`t, you?).

use toolchain and source files from samsung. No problem if you want recompile some drivers. use toolchain from svn.
