New rooting method in the wild

Post by mad_ady »

Just a quick heads-up. I've seen this post about a new rooting method being used: https://arstechnica.com/security/2017/0 ... -required/

Maybe it is useful to get initial root on newer models.

The funny thing is he already has samygo running on the TVs he demos... :D

Nothing new, I helped develop it :)
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!

Sorry! I searched the forum for the ars-technica URL and came up empty. Didn't know if it was discussed before.
Oh, well - you can close/delete this thread then :)
