Bonus:
  • Firmware downgrade
    ...has never been so simple! Here are steps.
    • Make a copy of /etc/info.ini to some RW place, let's say /tmp
      Edit that copy and change current firmware version number to any dummy lower one, e.g.:

      Code: Select all

      Version=T-HKMDEUC-1471.2;
      to

      Code: Select all

      Version=T-HKMDEUC-1000.0;
    • Mount bind edited ini copy over original one:

      Code: Select all

      mount -o bind /tmp/info.ini /etc/info.ini
    • Re-enable SWU services disabled by root:
      In case you get some odd error at that step, check from that post.

      Code: Select all

      systemctl start swu-service.service
      systemctl start swu-core-tv.service
      systemctl start swu-verifier-tv.service
    • Now you can extract any lower firmware to USB, and go into software update menu :)
      If you don't know how to update fw by USB, check Samsung website, no such support here.
Is this Version not possible in amended reverse order? The Samsung TV thinks it would be a higher version on the USB-Stick? Any Method conceivable...to downgrade...?

No, as long as you don't know how to decrypt/modify/re-encrypt/sign firmware. We're far from any "reverse order" theory, here downgrade is possible only thanks to root.

I would guess If firmware is LOWER than 1165 I think it should be rootable. But you have to wait for HKMFK stuff as "drivers" for it are still beta :)

Indeed, J hardware with K software, hence will need K root anyway. :)

HKMFK root to be precise :)
Thanks guys. This was very helpful!
Maybe its still better to search for on J (with comon FW) - But hard to find good J models in the meantime which are still on sale... (actually I don't want to by from ebay - to high risk of updated FW :-) ) - But on the other hand we have FW 0000 for J available... mmm will see...

Anyway. Good to know that lowend HKMFK is also planned...
But looks like there will be an special solution for it. Actually I prefer mostly comon used stuff: More support. More tools. More everything. Etc.

Only "drivers" will differ, rest will be same :)
