Help needed to either hack or restore c650

Ok, so firstly, i was so intrigued and interested in using my tv as a pvr i jumped straight in at the deep end without doing some research first, i know, stupid! but whats done is done

I tried to hack my tv by using the internet@tv widget not knowing that it didnt work on the latest firmware.

The tv froze up and is now restarting itself roughly every 5 minutes, everything works ok on it though other than that.

What i need to do now is:

a. Restore the TV to how it was before i attempted the hack.

or

b. Complete the hack so that the tv works normally but with the added features available from SamyGO.

I have followed the instructions provided at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/samygo ... de%20hack/ and it does show a movie file:

The TV is connected to my home network via ethernet.
I have 1 4GB USB Drive.

Also, i have just noticed that disabling watchdog from the service menu stops the tv from restarting so im now wondering if ive accidentally changed a setting such as the type (40L1UF0C) aswell?

yes, itt is your solution. Btw, dissabling watchdog is one of starting conditions before to hack. Why people do not read instructions???

My apologies if i missed it but out off all the instructions i read i dont remember seeing anything about disabling watchdog first?

I did read countless pages but missed the part about it not working on the latest firmware until after i attempted it, it was only after looking for a way to fix my mistake i turned watchdog off to stop it rebooting.

On an additional note, i have managed to access internet@tv and reset its settings, the tv now works fine with watchdog turned on.

But now internet@tv is not connecting, it shows a black box saying:

Connect to the Internet and enjoy a variety of contents throught Internet@TV.

etc....

Same result using either automatic or manual network settings

This also happened when i first got the tv but just started working one day for no reason. not sure if ive missed a setting somewhere after the factory reset?

Is there a complete guide somewhere detailing how to get these hacks working? and how to resolve the issues of using the latest firmware? as one of the problems i had is that there seems to be countless guides out there, most of which differ slightly from each other.

Hi, I had the same problem that you have, I had firmware 3009.2 in my Le40C650 but I managed to hack my samy via hotel mode and get back to firmware 1016. As you noticed there are many guides but most of them are useless. I'll try to explain you everything step by step how to get access to C650 via hotel model.
1. Download network_opt_18.02.2011_1.zip from here "http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MOTXPMMO"
2. Plug in your pendrive to you TV and then change your TV source to Aerial source (normal antenna) then go to Menu ->Channel ->Channel list transfer -> Export to USB, now channel list will be exported to your pendrive
2a. Now press on you remote [Mute]-[1]-[1]-[9]-[OK] and activate Hotel mode, then choose "Clone Tv to USB" and wait till everything will be copied.
3. Unplug your pendrive , connect it to your computer.
4. You will find on your pendrive file channel_list_LE40C650_1001.scm and folder T-VALDEUC.
5. Copy all files from pendrive somewhere on you computer, and open file channel_list_LE40C650_1001.scm with winzip/7-zip.
6. The content of this file should be like this:

Now you should create new folder inside this file (channel_list_LE40C650_1001.scm) named "usb_mount" and in the folder new file "1.txt"
So now your *.scm file should look like this:

usb_mount <- this is the folder that you need to create and in this folder should be file "1.txt"

7. Now extract files from file that you downloaded from step 1 ( "http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MOTXPMMO") and run Win32DiskImager.exe
8. Run win32DiskImager.exe choose you pendrive and select image file "network_opt_18.02.2011_sda2" then click write.
9. Two partitions will be created on your pendrive. The first one will be Fat32 the second Ext3.
10. Copy your modified channel_list_LE40C650_1001.scm to Fat32 and all files from T-VALDEUC/Clone to HotelMode.
Now the content of your pendrive should look like this:

11. Now unplug your pendrive and connect it to your TV.
12. Press on you remote [Mute]-[1]-[1]-[9]-[OK] and activate Hotel mode
13. Choose "Clone USB to TV"
14. Now don't do anything just wait couple of minutes, there will be black screen and Tv will restart (approx. 3-4 min)
15. Try to connect to your Tv via Telnet.
16. Run command cp $OPT_DIR/usr/restore/start.sh /mtd_rwarea/start.sh.

The first methods and How-To`s of hacking C serie were "dirty" and i agree - not everyone cand understand it.
But our users have hacked their TV`s according those manuals a lot of times and everyone can write his own manual how does he understood it and had success.
It is good, that ozyrus wrote more understandable How-To. If you want, you can put it to wiki. You have wiki write permissions.

p.s. I do not agree, that a lot of manuals are useless. We need some re-organization of wiki to become it more flexible and understandable. Here were some try to do that, but AFAIK the wiki still remains the the growing storage of information being not in the right trim...

Manuals are for people, if they are more accurate then there is no problem with doing something step by step and there is also less questions.

Hello, I followed the wiki for hotel mode hack with the network image and USB stick, but at the end I waited about 5-6 minutes, then I rebooted the TV manually and got the "no channels" problem and no telnet access (could not connect to host computer). I've got no clue what went wrong. My first_run.ok (33kb) I goes on to about line number 594, then the file just cuts off or ends right there.

I didn't get a "results" folder.
Perhaps someone who understands this Unix stuff can explain what went wrong and why. Thanks! =)
I might add that I could switch off the hotel mode and let the TV search for and find the channels again without problem if that helps.

EDIT: Turns out I just did not understand how to telnet properly, I did manage to connect through telnet even though I got the "no channels" problem after the reboot, ...and the TV executed the SamyGo.sh as it was supposed to do, so thanks to the people writing the Wikis!
