UE43 J5500 - fitting the picture to the screen?

Post by skipbifferty »

Hi, my decision on getting this tv might depend on whether it has a 'Fit to Picture' (aka Just Scan or Dot to Dot) setting? I assume it has it for the hdmi inputs but what about the internal digital tv tuner? I spoke to Samsung and they tell me it does have the option. If they're right, and I'm not sure they are, does it have it for both sd and hd channels? Thank you.

No, the same goes for all Samsung TVs for years: only full HD channels (and external sources) have fit to screen option. SD and 720p don't and picture is systematically (over)cropped.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I've found it quite difficult to find LED tv brands that don't crop on their tv channels. I think Panasonic don't (they used to though) and possibly Sony as well. I'm in the UK with a budget of about ?350, I'm looking at Blaupunkt and Seiki who make cheap tvs but I think they sadly overcrop.
