Enable PVR Content to play in other TV

Post by markf »

Hi to all. I have a hard disk with content recorded in 40F6400, but now I only have the 49K6500 and if I try play content of hard disk appear "protected by DRM". Is possible I enable play the content in TV anyway?

Indeed, recordings are specific to each TV, even if exact same model. No way unless they're decrypted on original TV.

Thanks. This is a great limitation.

Hi,

here is a tool that should decrypt recorded files.
This is really old code and I'm not sure if it works with current models.
But I'm optimistic that Samsung was too lazy to change this.
It worked for all models before Tizen.

On Linux you can use QtCreator to compile it. May be on Windows it works as well (I ported it from Win to Linux).

Can somebody try it and give a feedback?

From where do you get decryption key? .mdb file?
If so, it's limited to D (=2011) series. Old code indeed :)

yes, the key comes from the .mdb file.
Has somebody new solutions?

Looks you have much late work, plain key stored in mdb is prehistory (=time before I registered :D )
About a couple of different "solutions" for E/F, as much for H and at least one for J/K Tizen's. Mandatory root for all of them.
No need to say 4 years can't be summarized in few words...

Sure, as overview, but won't save you much to read
[PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F/H series
[App] PVR encryption key dumper E/F
[App] SamyGO NoDRM E/F (MST only)
[APP] ffmpeg w/ srf decryption and hw aes [E/F/(H)/J/K]
etc :)

Basically from E, decryption requires associated .key file and a way to internally catch that key (hence root/code injection necessary).
UnDRM'd recording is also possible in some case (->no key/decryption needed, E/F/H on T-MST fw).
