I am wondering if samsung can be hacked to provide equivelent functionality as (hacked) WD live.
See http://b-rad.cc/wdlxtv-live/

it can (it's done since over a year), see "samygo extensions pack".
you can implemen what you like, but first you have to compile the apps you need and integrate start routine (init script) into extensions pack.

Ok thanks - newbie her- I have a lot to learn :)
wd live can load off usb ( http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/Ext3_version ) for testing/not to break anything. A" manual/how to" to would be great if possible.
Then there is no fear of breaking anything
Sorry my linux knowledge is very limited.

but with limited linux knowledge you just get frustrated if something don't work on your tv, it makes no sense to execute commands on tv if you dont't know what these do. :!:

i'v ordered a WD TV LIVE for christmas as well. I'll try it and see how well it performs. I was hesitating between the WD TV LIVE and some other media HDD like Xtreamer sidewinder and the new Asus One. I heard realtek chip based one are pretty good and stable compared to Sigmatek based.
