Samsung D503 doesn't play video from USB

Postby alexcee » Wed Aug 10, 2011 11:07 am

Hi friends, i'm italian and i have a little problem: my Samsung LE40D503 (model of 2011) doesn't play video from USB, because samsung is evil! in fact my other tv LE32C530 plays video from USB of the great (yet it's a model of 2009). Now i want to known if there is a way to enable this function perhaps by a modified firmware (or a firmware from other model such as d550 compatible). Thanks

We don`t have any modified firmware for C and D series. Feature you`re asking for might could be switched to on by changing model in service menu. But i don`t know if your TV supports it at all.
Use it on your own responsibility, you could brick your TV as easy as switch Video support too. 50/50.

Hey guys; could somebody please make me screenshots or write me down the details of the settings of the service menu? Model LE40D503F7W
Accessed by Info Menu Mute and so on in stand-by.
I stupidly was trying to enable the video funktion but I messed up the model number and then I mage a factory reset - but now I understood that Samsung makes customised settings before sale and the factory reset doesn't provide the optimal settings for audio&video. Is that even true?
Now it seems to work fine ... but I'm just not sure that it's gonna last ...

Hi!

I bought the tv yesterday, and i also have the same problems with playing a movie files from an USB drive!
In that menu is not even a VIDEO option to select, its just an photo and music!
Someone know how to configure the setings to play the movies?

Kind Regards!

Hi all,

I also was disapointed that the D503 did not play video.
But as suggested above I was able to make the model change in the service menu and now it plays my videos (divx, avi, mpg, mov, mkv) on the usb!

Here are step by step instructions on how I did this:
1. Access the service menu by pressing (in succession) Info, Menu, Mute, and then Power when the TV is in stand-by.
2. In the Service Menu select Option , then arrow down to Model and select.
3. Then select model D5005 by using left/right arrow keys.
4. Exit by pressing return key twice, power off then on again. (did not do a factory reset)
The TV should have video playback from usb.

Hope this helps out.

Is your front touch pannel working after you`ve changed model?

Info must be moved to our wiki, could you? Thanks :)
