Buggy DLNA or poor Wi-Fi

Post by absent »

I've upgraded from a C series to the ES6300 and 'am having real issues streaming media from my laptop to the TV.

The C series worked flawlessly and never gave me any problems. The E series is so bad that I've literately given up trying to stream and dump to USB instead. Every 5 to 10 minutes it stops and tells me my laptop has disconnected (it hasn't).

I assumed it was a weak Wi-Fi single due to the built in aerial compared to the plug in dongle I used on the older model. The thing is however that the Wi-Fi signal strength always shows 3 or 4 bars on the TV and BBC iPlayer works fine, very rarely stopping to buffer as it would if the connection was poor or dropping.

This makes me think that it might actually be a poor DLNA implementation in the current firmware causing the instability.

Has anyone else noticed such an issue?

Try unencrypted wifi with mac-filtering (boosts performance) otherwise you could use Twonky DLNA server.

Sadly I am having the same problem over wired ethernet connected to my modem router.

Any help please? I have an ES6100 TV.

Make sure that your wired network is at 100 Mbps
I experienced same problem because of an old 10Mbps-only hub between my BD and my DLNA server

Hello. Recently I also had a problem with my ES5500 and mediatomb 12.1 DLNA server. The TV shows the mediatomb icon, but it doesn't show the directories list.
The mediatomb developers write that this behavior is because of buggy DLNA implememntation in Samsung TV's. They published herea patch to fix this problem. I compiled mediatomb with this patch and my problem disappeared. May be it can help you.
