more or less, but i really not see here a reason for downgrade...
Arris, I also have a E series TV, if I can help you in testing something then let me know.
good to hear, only problem is we need a tester who is willing to brick the device.
plan is to flash a firmware with custom kernel, rootfs and modified exe partition. manually flash was successful but we need to test it over "regular" update procedure too...

so if somebody has an e-series device (T-ECPDEUC based), maybe with some warranty issue (extreme clouding etc.) then let us check firmware update before you call the service.

Yes but its cheating the system by increasing the version number past what you are currently on.

...
after "downgrade" you have the correct version not the "faked one".

Just an update i finally got around to trying the downgrade and it worked successfully.
I did update back to the firmware i was on cause the tv started being really slow in responding to remote control commands after being power on for awhile.
90% sure the downgrade was not responsible for this because i updated the firmware almost straight away after using tv for the first time and i remember the same tv at the shop acted similar to this so i guess it could be original firmware problem

  • T-MST10PDEUC (success: pending)
I can ask will we be able to patch our own firmware at a later date?

with enabled telnet people have the chance 50:50 to brick the tv, if anybody can build and flash a firmware then we get 100 bricks/day.

you can add stuff you need to extensions pack, this is the most "safe" way...

Yes i agree there is more chance for users to brick and i'm sure u don't want the forums filled with "help i bricked my tv" so safest way is better.
The reason i ask can we patch our own firmware is with c-series rooting stayed if you updated firmware, so if patching is only available via otn some users may be restricted to firmware version available

Telnet and FTP working.

What can i do to prevent to brick my TV / unbrick preparation?
Ex-Link cable is working
RS232 Setting in the Service-Menu is set to "debug"
Watchdog option in the Service-Menu is turned off
But i cant find backup exe.img ( stored on /dev/tbml10 )

if you call

Code: Select all

/bin/mount
you'll see that e-series use mmc partitions and not bml stuff.
