Change region on HT-D55xx
Hey All,
I was wondering if someone could help me. I have an HT-D5500 and I downgraded it using the method described in the first sticky post in this forum. Only downside to it successfully downgrading is that now I can't play any of my DVDs as apparently the region is different.
Does anyone know how to change the region on the HT-D5500? Maybe there is a Samygo application (the firmware I have apparently can have it installed but I haven't managed that yet).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Change region on HT-D55xx
What is your FW version? Have you rooted the player?
Try to do this:
Try to do this:
Code: Select all
1. Ensure that there is no disk in the tray.
2. Switch the player off and then back on. This is necessary to clean-boot the
firmware.
3. Wait until the main menu page appears and the player stops doing
anything.
4. Press the eject button to open the tray. (The button is between the "Power"
and "TV Power" buttons at the top of the controller.)
5. Press the eject button to close the tray.
6. Wait while the player searches for a disk.
7. As soon as the "No Disk" message appears at the top left corner do the
following.
8. Press the REPEAT button ? just above the TV channel selector at the bottom
right of the controller.
9. Enter 76884 on the number pad.
10. The region code "4" should appear at the top left corner of the
screen.(this just flashed on then off, so keep an eye on the screen)
11. Enter a "9" to make the player region free.
12. Power down and power up again.
13. Play a foreign DVD to verify the change.
================================================
================================================
==========
Firstly, you must start entering the code just after the "No Disk" message is
shown and before the message disappears.
Secondly, the REPEAT key is part of the code. All six keys must be entered
smoothly as "REPEAT 57538". The entry gets timed out so you can't stop in
the middle and restart. Don't bash away like crazy, just do it smoothly and
briskly.
If you don't see the "4" the first time, don't worry. Just repeat the process. It
took me about a dozen tries before I got it to work.
I can't guarantee that this player does not have a region change counter so I
would be a bit careful about changing regions back and forth. I also can't
guarantee that this will work with all released firmware. Samsung seems to
take this crazy region bastardry very seriously for some reason.
================================================
=======
For people from other parts of the world, all region codes are as follows
1 ? 2 9 3 3 4
2 ? 5 7 5 3 8
3 ? 5 6 7 3 2
4 ? 7 6 8 8 4
5 ? 5 3 8 1 4
6 ? 2 4 4 6 2

Re: Change region on HT-D55xx
Hi there,
The player is running 1012 as I downgraded it recently. Since I downgraded my region has changed (I dont know which one). It is rooted so I could go and change it through command line if I knew where!
My player doesnt have a tray, so pressing eject doesnt do anything. I have tried all codes with different speeds of typing the numbers with no luck. As I dont know what region I have it is a bit difficult to try and try again. My Region B blurays are playing but my Region 2 DVD discs are not, so I assume it is either a region 4 or 5?!
Thanks

Re: Change region on HT-D55xx
My device is a HT-D5530W but the manual says HT-D5530. Purchased in New Zealand August 2011.
The key for me after numerous attempts was to simply slow down and type in the code deliberately instead of rushing through it.
1. Ensure there is no disc in the drive
2. Power off using remote
3. Power on using remote
4. No disc is displayed on the front of the player
5. Without hurrying type in [REPEAT] 7 6 8 8 4
6. Your current region is displayed in the top right hand corner of the screen (mine is a region 4)
7. Press 9 on your remote (making it region free)
8. Power off using remote
9. Power on using remote and test it out with an out of region disc

Re: Change region on HT-D55xx
When I downgraded my device using the method in viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4244 the firmware was already prepared for samygo, and when I downloaded the application and rooted it I have full access per ssh if I want to.
As for your second post, I have already tried that with no luck whatsoever. Nothing happens...

Re: Change region on HT-D55xx
never tried the cooked FW from samygo. Maybe they put something that stop the region code command. Try to get in touch with the person that prepared the FW for samygo.

Re: Change region on HT-D55xx
So, it is not the samygo FW. The region code should work. Is your remote control AK59-00148A or AH59-02342A?
