Format/codec for videos via DLNA

Hello,

I would like to create some videos from my private photos and videos and wondering if somebody can help me with one question: What is the best audio/video-format/codec regarding to quality, filesize and (very important) DLNA-compatibilty between Samsung Smart TV (UE46F6500) and Synology DS112+ NAS?
