How do I make encrypted files recovered by UFS watchable aga

Post by TrevorTrait »

Hello everybody!! :)

Sorry, I'm new and don't know if this is the right thread for something like this:

I have a D6500 (EU) and the hard disk I record to was not recognized anymore.
This has happened before and I tried a few things to make it work again.

When I used xfs_repair it said the superblock was corrupted and it couldn't find another one to repair the file system.

After trying a couple more things I finally reformatted the disk using Gparted and it was recognized again.
There were some recordings on that disk I really didn't like to lose, so I usede UFS explorer to recover some of the data.

As it went, the files all have new names and suffixes (which usually happens when I use that program).

I figure the bigger files are all video recordings. When I try to play them on VLC media player (I actually only tried to play one yet.) it looks like it's
an encrypted movie file (or as far as I remember them look like).

I put it on a sd card and plugged that into the TV via an USB adapter. This usually works just fine with avi, mpegs and other file formats.

The TV however does not recognize the file when I give it the usual suffix for recorded files (.fts?).

It does recognize it when I rename it to .avi, but says "unsupported codec" or something similar (I don't remember right now).
I also tried to format the sd card to xfs and put the file on it but that didn't work either.

Is it possible to somehow find out which of the dozens or more files is the corresponding "code" file (the file Destroi needs to decrypt the movie - sorry,
I forgot the name of the suffix) to any given "movie" file (the really big files UFS recovered). Could you read out any information like the former name of both files? Is that maybe stored inside those files and is there any software I could use to find out which pairs are matching so to speak?

Can anybody think of any solution to make those recovered files watchable again?

Or any ideas as how to recover the old file system by finding a spare superblock?
(Just using xfs_repair on both sdc1 and just sdc did not work.

Or any other ideas, please?

Thank you in advance for any input!
