another skype update just arrived ver 3.140608.... no idea if blocks or not SamyGO. Be careful!

I think the Skype does not block the root. The new firmware blocked it.

The reason why they have released 1118 is because they read this forum.
The fact that somebody can manage to root the TV means that they have a security issue... ...I guess they take more seriously security rather than sell some more TV for samygo.
The percentage of people who buy a Samsung only beacuse of samygo is ridicolous for Samsung and I guess they are not making their business on that.

At the end it will be an andless story: they make modification and someone will find a back door to root and so on....

I am not the only one who has asked about this, and i havent seen any answer in this thread.

And when i read the info about samygo extention, this is what it says:

"Features:
ftp (port 21), true telnet (use putty) on 23 port, netcat shell (port 33)
ssh (must be enabled first). login: root, password: SamyGO"

I have enabled ssh, but still get access denied, thus i ask a question.

Try that:
- download /mnt_rwarea/passwd using FTP
- edit the root user and change his shell to /bin/sh (should currently be /mnt/bin/ash)
- upload passwd
- restart sshd

I was able to use it on 1200. I think Skype is indeed the culprit.

Hi guys, I'm totally lost here and I'm a completly noob so I would love if someone can help me out here. My TV model is UE40F70 and the firmware is 1115, I tried to follow OP but I don't really know what I'm doing here, lol.

First, I guess I need a Skype account and login with it in the Skype app with it to set it in autostart, am I right? I just want to confirm this first.
Now, where the real problem start is when installing the SamyGO widget, I'm trying to follow this to login with the developer account but it won't let me even introduce the password! I write develop just like in the video but it won't let me introduce the password afterwards. I figured is because it needs to be an email with @ and all that so I can write the password but the tutorial doesn't say anything about that so I don't know what to do.

Also I would like to ask about the next steps, it talks about the computer IP, do I need to be connected to the internet for that? I had the TV connected by wireless to my computer in the past but I don't know if that is enough or if it needs to by LAN. I'm kinda scared about letting the TV to connect to the internet because I don't want the firmware to update, but I tried the wiki tutorial (this one http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/How_To ... re_Updates) and it doesn't work either. In the 6th step of the change region (local set) on F series it says "Switch the TV into Stand-by mode", but once the TV blinks the remote doesn't work at all unless I press the power button in the back of the tv, and it doesn't go to stand by but to the normal tv instead so I don't know what is going on.

Sorry for having so many questions but I can't get anything done right here and is getting troublesome. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hi SamyGo First timer here.

TV Model: UA46F5500
Firmware: 1118

Just installed SamyGo Widget and it installed fine and both Step 1 & 2 were OK so restarted as required but I can neither SSH nor FTP the TV. As per the information on the forum firmware 1118 should be fine with F5xxx any idea what to do?

Unfortunately, my TV set was updated to 1117 version and now is rebooting every time. After that, I uninstalled SamyGO Widget, did a factory reset to the TV and reinstall the widget, but it didn't work. If I put the No_SamyGo file, the TV is working fine, but without any SamyGO features of course. Could you mind see the logs files attached to the email and give me some help about this problem, please? Thank you very much.

I had a similar issue on my F8000. I solved with a FW upgrade to an intermediate release.
i guess that before rebooting you have access to FTP and Telnet.
You can try to disable ".dis" all the Extensions via telnet and activate them one by one so that you can find the module that is causing reboot.
