Who knows... According to leaks, looks like they just used some samygo hacks and adapted it for their needs. If such an agreement existed, they could make their own firmware and sign it with valid key, and totally block any possible updates.

I'm on 1019 and I just was asked if I wanted to take a new update...1028. I declined and checked my update settings. Auto update is disabled. I then blocked the domains in my router but I'm to afraid to check if it worked (afraid it will install update) so I disabled the internet on my tv, lol
