Use putty as terminal.
Set connection settings:

Baudrate: 115200
Data bits: 8
Parity: none
Stop bits: 1
Flow Control: none

Is there a good connection between VGA and your cable?
Check it. Noone says is your cable good or not - you have to test it by yourself.
You have to get readable text on the screen.
