since I have read so many good comments on 3010.1 recently, I decided to reinstall it today. It sucks

especially 3d is teribble and I reverted the firmware back to 2004 again and it cost me 1 hour
I used the famous 0000.0 firmware tool
I really cannot understand how a firmware becomes this bad after 7 or 8 firmware releases. if 2004 were the final firmware and the 3010.1 were the first one, I would say that samsung did a good job and they are improving their firmware but this is just the opposite lol. it is getting worse and worse after each new release
I can compare some well known firmwares as follows
1016 was the original firmware on the tv when I bought it, if I remember correctly.
F/W..............3d .....................2d
1016............85/100...............90/100
2004............85/100...............95/100
3010............40/100...............98/100
if I had a chance to keep 2 firmwares in tv, I would choose 3010 for HD channels and 2004 for 3d movies

One thing I noticed about the 3010.1 firmware is that my Samsung UE46C8790 suddenly has an all-new Ethernet MAC address since I upgraded. None of the previous firmware updates ever did anything about the MAC address. I don't know where the new firmware pulled it from. Maybe it's a fixed "debugging" MAC address and now all TVs upgraded to 3010.1 have the same address...? If that's the case, no wonder Samsung pulled it. They should have put up a new one, though, to fix the issue for those who already installed 3010.1 ...

that can be true. when I enter the service menu, I see "mac error" on the main page, which was not present before. and no matter which firmware you install afterwards , it does not disappear

and what is more interesting, samsung australia still keeps 3010.1 firmware on its support page for 46c750

Don't know how you were flashing or testing.
I have flashed 3010 firmware yesterday to my LE40C750 TV and I can say it was an improve.
Before that I had 3009 - which is not bad at all. From the comments up here i read that 2004 is not bad version either but after flashing it wasn't an option anymore it was probably the worst firmware i have ever had. 3D is bad, colors are weird. HD sucks.
3010 somehow improved colors for my own eye. Looks really better even on SD channels than 3009 and especially than 2004.
cross talk looks less at least for me. Also motion plus looks improved.
PS: don't forget that comparing 3D and other settings for different firmwares right after flashing is not really fair. You still have to play with the simple picture settings and they are probably going to be different for each version. You should reduce backlight as settings of 20 will definitely give you cross talk (at least on my tv) I personally use 14-15 as maximum or 6-8 for normal HD/SD
PPS: I did Factory reset after each flashing!!!

hi,
my presonal test is based on the 55c8790 PVR recordings (the same record) from one HD and one SD channel and a 3D movie demo. so the same tv, same media but the only thing to change is the firmware
firmwares do not produce the same results on all TV models, that is the main reason I think
In my TV, best 3d (min. crosstalk) is achieved with 2004. HD quality is also quite nice. with 3010, it is not possible to watch 3d movies, no matter which setting I use. with 2004, I use default settings and its OK

Is your TV Plasma?
The reason that samsung took away 3010 is because it had problems on some or all Plasma TVs though.
My one is LCD and honestly speaking 3D is way better on 3010 for my TV than on any other firmware same as HD and SD picture.
PS: I never use Default settings. They are weird wrong colors as for my eyes.
