@sectroyer,

Actually .. This being a forum of learning and curiosity ..

Please DO tell about the details and the challanges of doing the new root for E(S)- & F-series.

The best articles I have ever read, has always been done by individuals with the right knowledge, and the right access ... and the motivation
to tell a story about their "project".

Personally I would love to read some sort of "diary" over the corse af a gain-root-attack for some device :-)

:-)

@sectroy

I would sure enjoy reading whatever you wish to share .. !
But I would urge you to simply start a blog in the restriched development-section.
That would allow for many more readers, than just me alone.
Also it would attract donors, if it became known that one of the "guru"'s was blogging.
Looking forward to your publications, in any shape or form you choose :-)

Hehe, there is not much to blog about ;) It's really something that everybody already knows :) That's why I can PM some "ideas" but don't want to make a full of myself "blogging" about obvious stuff ;)

@sectroyer,

I know exactly what you mean .. At your level of knowledge basically EVERYTHING is "obvious stuff".
I have been developing software for years, and I too "suffer" from the "snowblindness" of being an expert in MY field.

Still, the things I hold as obvious, seens to be utterly mysterious to others .. Hell, I even meet people who have no idea about Boolean logic or state-engines or SQL servers.

I feel confident when I claim the same thing goes for you ..
To you an "OOB-attack" contains the full mental idea and procedure for a 5-minute operation allowing you root-access to whatever device you are attacking.

When others, less familiar with the subject, hear about "OOB-attack", or "sidechannel-attack", their eyes glaze over, and they just nod in silence ..

You have the knowledge, the skills, the tools and the motivation (?!) to lift us ALL to a higher level.

Here is a funney idea ... Record your screen during an attack .. Lets see a master fiddeling with the system, from first login-try to seeing
hov you craft malformed TCP-telegrams to trigger a crash, how you inject ramps on the stack, and so on and so on .... and so on. And publish the video !
That would by far be the most interesting 30-minute video I would have watched for YEARS.

Many fancy names for methods and procedures to tell about .. How you build sufficient knowledge about a certain system to attack it for root.

I know I am asking a lot of you, but the chance to have some of your mental work "saved" on the net is just too good to pass up ... not even you will live forever, but you cant kill the net :-)

First of all:
When others, less familiar with the subject, hear about "OOB-attack", or "sidechannel-attack", their eyes glaze over, and they just nod in silence ..
I don't know what these two "attacks" are but maybe I am just not familiar with name, I am poor with names ;) Second thing is that such video would very boring ;) Most of rooting is reading ;) As a result such video would be very boring ;) Second you have to remember that samsung guys also listen ;) And third thing is that often many people are behind "the hack". Some of them want to be anonymous :D And lastly I am really noob in all of this. There are people far better than me :D

Anybody interested in rooting or expanding his/hers knowledge can always contact with me via PM ;) Besides rooting is so much fun, working on D MIPS patches that is fun :D
