yes, I'll just order the one from dealextreme without backplane - $6 is better than wasting more time on this one.

i think you will try again with same module and get success ;)
Same was at me - i gave up and forgot about module. Then next day tried to do same and succeed.

I like this debug method too. Unfortunately I've done 3 iterations of it and that's my limit.

After 1st try - consult google.
After 2nd try - consult forum.
After 3rd try - consult beer and reorder.

If you get symbols echoed, then you just need to bring module to AT mode. Check manuals i attached (ya ya, once again)

ok, a little extra coffee did it. These back-plane ones don't take AT commands, I got it to the correct baud rate with serial command:

Code: Select all

set baud 115200

These are supposed to be TTL out right? TV doesn't like what it's seeing, sometimes I'll get clear characters, other times garbled and TV starts executing commands by itself. :o

So module talks to itself fine at 115200 but output from TV is nonsense characters. Do you think I need TTL converter from TV to module? My normal cable is the stereo plug connector to a PL2303(prolific) RS-232/USB converter. Voltage between tx/rx of TV is -5.45V

No. I connected module pins 1 and 2 to tvs rx and tx and plugged power to USB. That's all. No other cables at all. From PC side just bt com port to get connected and full readable and operable exlink connection.
