LAN or wlan? i mean you can use wifi usb dongle to achieve network. As i understood, you`re going to solder in ethernet port?
UPD: i think the procedure is similar as described on wiki (c series)?

Re: MAC adress on a PS51D490
i added wired LAN. Some D490 main boards are fitted with SEMS23 ( not all of them tho) which has full embedded LAN controller , so it doesn't need the external Realtek controller.
I just had to solder the missing ethernet socket and a few jumpers to get the hardware ready. I'll take some photos as soon as i have time n post them.
Then I added a MAC address into the NVM manually , it can't be done through TDM . I saw a " I2C stop" option in the factory menu . maybe one could solder the two needed SDA and SCL wires from the programmer to the board , stop the I2C bus using that option , and gain access to the memory without having to de solder it from the board ?
Change the network support option to Ext-Wifi
About the options , some of them have to be enabled through the TDM as they're greyed out in the factory menu.
the "secret" options 9 , 10 , 11 and 12 have to be enabled via TDM
[9] MediaPlayDB off
[10] MediaPlay Movie chepterinmedia
[11]MediaPlay DLNA on
[12] MediaPlay Playlist on
and don't forget to enable the All Share support option in the config options menu.
Finally change the model to PD550 or the media list exits immediately . I have no idea why the model option is important at this stage but it is
So yes it's quite the same procedure as on C series
I haven't tried to use a WiFi dongle , but I guess it would work just fine . I have no Ralink stick to give a try but it would be easier as no soldering or MAC address is required. But i had all the necessary components that's why i wired the LAN plus I'm a nosey lad
