I just bought the same tv as you guys, except mine is the 40" version. I've been reading through the wiki and i was wondering if someone could answer me a few questions?
Size of your TV does not important and doesn't affect FW and tools...
1) Where can i get an ex-link cable from?
2) Once i have flashed the firmware, i presume i then telnet onto the tv. However what are the recommended applications or hacks to run after it has been modified?
3) Once the firmware has been modified with the bog standard firmware available here, what are the functions available (without adding additional apps)?
4) If i use the above instructions, are there any problems i need to look out for?

1. You can solder your self. Cut one headphone, remove plastic cover and reach the wires, plug that wires into your RS232 port. You can also attach needle to that wires... There is schematics at wiki
Notice: If you attach this wires directly to your RS232 port, you needed to take into account for Female vs Male RS232 pin points.
2. You can also use Telnet Application to enable telnet at original firmware. You can also use Console (ExLink) to enable telnet or dropping to linux shell...
3. FW Patcher enables VideoARFix, and enables Telnet or autoexecuting script at startup, also enables WiseLink movie player at B5 series...
4. There is wiki page, also giving support at forum.:)
