i built a tool to dissect and replace elements - far from finished, but enough for my purposes 
if anyone is interested, I'll share it here - its WIP, anything but self explaining - you'll need a hexeditor to edit most values.
usage: dump rom, create a folder called and have the elements separated.
replace with id [first value in output] or rpt for HID-Report replacement.
