mad_ady wrote:Small update: with dns blocking as described in my last post I ran a software update check from the menu. It reports back (immediately) that no new updates are available. I guess that's ok, right?

My TV is H6400 running 2602. Also, the web browser works correctly with the domains blocked.
Nope that means update are NOT correctly blocked !!! it should report failed to connect :)
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!
If you want root DISABLE internet access to your device!!!!
DO NOT EVER INSTALL FIRMWARE UPGRADE !!!!

Be sure that I tried this already. Otherwise I would not write it. It works quite instantly again after removing the adresses from blocking.
But I wrote "looks like" because "to be 100% sure" on Sammy TV are big words. Im not a developer to prove this for 100%. Let's say I'm 95% sure ;)
zoelechat wrote:I have similar behavior of web browser, and already had it before blocking msecnd.net, but it seems to be random: sometimes work, sometimes not (ERROR_EXE_some_number). The same goes for "Samsung Apps", I'm even not sure it's related to any URL blocking. Anyway, somebody using TV web browser must have time to waste :)
Exactly - Same Message here "ERROR_EXE_001" - This comes directly after I blocked them in Router and starting webbrowser. Sammy Apps give me "ERROR_CODE_012".

If this all is all not vaild for H than we can be happy! Take this only as "nice to know" ;)
... and sry for the offtopic...

I'll try to log dns requests on the router when asking for a firmware update.

Quick queston: are firmware updates region-specific? Other users with the same tv model already have newer firmwares, so I should have an update available...
H6400, firmware 2602.2 downgraded to 2130

Don't worry when samsung pushes update as OTN it will work :)

Just a question:
(I'm sure someone already thought about it)
Isn't there a host file on the TV where we can block the updateservers after rooting?

There's an host file but it can't be tricked until you get root, nor permanently, and at this point TV already did bootup update check :)

So it is not possible to first root the TV, and after that moddify the host file by the rooting app?

No, not permanently, you can only do it "too late" on every boot :)

Wait, what did you mean by this? Did you manage to actually downgrade to a lower firmware?!
