I don't know much about HT-* stuff but for (IIRC) HT-4500 it works

HT means Home Theater (=not only BD player, you know ). You're right, it worked on HT-E4500

Don't ask me I don't even have any idea why would someone buy a bluray player What for is a player that can play discs which cost (IIRC) 10 euro ? I know few people who bought/received bluray players and don't even use them AS bluray players
