Thanks to davidx. You did the trick for me. I also had to set both dns-server-addresses to 46.4.199.222 in my router. After having this done the download went flawlessly. Having 1112 now and works perfect.

So, there ist hope for everyone with a HT-D5550! It?s possible to do it.

you are done. can you tell me what setting you did.

how you connect your bluray with Router
1. direct cable or using access point (wifi)
2. your router ip is static or dhcp
3. If static where you set both dns
4. if dhcp there is option for setting dns:
5. In bluray palyer ip auto or manual
6. in bluray player dns auto or manual
7. can you pl post screenshot
a)ROUTER SETTING
b)BLURAY IP SETTING
c)BLURAY NETWORK SETTING

can any one show the screen shot of router dns setting and blury IP and network setting screen shot to make more clear how the setting and where its wrong.

You may have a different type of router/modem, but I have Q1000 with Qwest.

<> Depends on your router/modem DNS, you may have one, but I have 2 and that's what I did.

Here's what I did:
<> Power off Bluray player with "no disc" in tray, unplug cord off the wall for 5 - 10 minutes.
<> while bluray player is off the wall, change the DNS from your wireless/DSL/router/modem network to 46.4.199.222
<> I had 2 DNS, so I just put both using the same as 46.4.199.222
<> click "Apply", then "Reboot" router
<> plug bluray power cord back on, turn power on bluray player via control
<> go straight to "settings, network, network status, IP settings," and change DNS from bluray player to "Manual," then change DNS to 46.4.199.222, then click "OK"
(I didn't even do anything with IP address, Subnet, and Gateway, I leave those in Auto Mode)
<> exit out, and turn off bluray player with remote, unplug cord off the wall for 5 minutes
<> plug bluray power cord back on, turn power on bluray player again via control
<> go to "settings, support," then wait 15 secs for "software update", click "update from internet"
<> it should download software XX90, just wait til download completed
<> then upgrade now, once it's done, power off, wait for 1 minute, turn power on again
<> now go check the version via settings, software and it should be [Current Version: 2011/08/05_001015]
<> after downgraded successfully, remember to change both your DNS from router and bluray player back to normal.

Hope this helps for future BD-D5700 owners.

Hi hany8,

sorry havent been around for a couple of days. Anyway this was my setup:

2,3,4. Router untouched (as I cannot change the DNS on mine).
1. I used a wired connection between router and bluray player
5. ip manual (make sure the gateway is your router ip address, and your ip address is within the region)
6. dns manual (put 46.4.199.222 no in there)
7. I would but dont have access to my TV right now

As I said before, if you can go through a different Internet service provider maybe it'll work much more easily. I.e. can you connect to the internet through your phone? I.e. share it with your computer and share that with your ht?

I have firmware 1010.1 (BPH-D8500EUB-1010.1). My device is BD-D8200N

I now managed to download a "downgradeable" firmware which is 1107

I didn't install it, because I'm not sure this firmware is compatible with my device. Could someone please tell me if it's safe to install it?
