insert blank usb stick
if usb is not xfs formated, tv will ask you to format it.
if device is fast and big enough, it will be posible to record on it.
start samygo app.
switch to some digital channel.
press red (round) button on RC.

tv should ask you , how many minutes u want to record.
you confirm.
tv start recording.

when you stop , on usb in directory /CONTENTS/ you have numbered files, your stored pvr file is xxxxxxxxxx.srf, rename it to .ts, .mpeg or some other DVB MPEG format.

play somwhere.

Also, if anyone has knowledge, I'd like to learn what does the new firmware (1018 or 1019) provide. I searched on Samsung site but couldn't find a "release note" or "changes" doc.
Also, what does the watchdog service do ? I had disabled it as recommended; should I re-enable it ?

this you should direct ask samsung, if they dont release any info , noone on this board can tell you exact changments in the software.

if something in the application goes what dog dont like, dog reboot?s the TV and it will again watch the main application.

@mrmrmrmr the only way to know TV's PVR encryption has been disabled is to try to play the .srf on some device other than the TV. Run hack, make a recording, then open TV's samba share on your PC. Navigate to the CONTENTS/ folder & change the file's .srf extension to say .ts, & try to play. I use vlc. Crypted recording -> no picture; after SamyGo patch -> colours

The D-Series wiki refers to some 01_04_pvr_drm_disable.init script which wiki indicates might run some old-recordings descramble stuff:

PVR scrambling removal
Records made before to start this still leave encrypted. Only new videos become unscrambled.
All recordings, made after executing this script become free-to-watch To enable:
/mtd_down/widget/user/SamyGO/SamyGO/etc/init.d/01_04_pvr_drm_disable.init

That .init script is not present on my hacked TV - is this feature not available yet? I have a number of recordings made on my old D6750 panel, which of course don't play on my new D8000. Is there some key/file I should copy out of the old TV's filesystem before I sell it... ?

i did not check yet , i think it will be not posible, as you need hw corypto engine to prefoem some crypto stuff to obtain drm key whitch is used do decrypt content... but also not relay sure as i am in other issues at the moment.
