Java support

sorry bobiturboto,im no hater. i know java very well. im working as senior j2ee developer. im just skeptical about java usage on my tv where bash, c, or perl have more performance and will do their jobs faster and with less load.
nevertheless, have fun learning java and good luck to not brick your tv by heavy load ;)

Seeing as the TV's already run things like Node, which i'd suspect to be both heavier and slower than Java in most cases, I don't really see the problem.
I'd say that the more oppurtunities for different developers to be able to contribute using a language they're comfortable with, the better.
You'd be able to brick your tv easier in a lower level language like C if you don't know what you're doing.

thats right, but how could we access tv internal api from java, without some jni stuff? so i dont see, how pure java could help us extend functionality.

It helps to run java software :)
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
