Nope, it's not working. They blocked it also?

Are you sure? Can you tell us which step in the manual flashing procedure was blocked?

It's just a guess, but I think it may be not so simple.. If they _really_ wanted it tamper-resistant, there are quite simple ways for samsung developers to make downgrade nearly impossible.
Things to check:
- Is ExLink / serial console input working on reflashed devices ?
- What about TOP Debug Menu ?
- Is Uboot menu still accessible from serial console ?
Code: Select all
UBOOT
_ZN9CFastBoot11KernelPatchEv
I wonder what those new functions are for, exactly..
Althought the uboot & kernel partitions are not reflashed by update (on non-CI+ B650's anyway), it doesn't necessarily mean they remain unchanged after all.
Possibly some direct patches are being applied by new exeDSP on the first run afer upgrade ?
EDIT: There are allready some reports about serial console not working after upgrade.. go figure.

Yes I know. Wait for a week. Will deploy Subtitle support and automated recognition of squashFS to B5 series.

Has anybody checked out if updates on the Yahoo widget system have been made? If so, we should merge the changes somehow into older firmwares because some widgets are not usable with T-CHL7DEUC-2005.0 (message: firmware update pending)

Some strings from new exeDSP:
Code: Select all
USB minor version is lower or equal than local minor version, so don't upgrade for netflix request
USB major version is lower or equal than local major version, so don't upgrade for netflix request
USB Netflix 1.2 version GetSecureImageVersion
ENC Upgrade is not availbale in Secure downgrade prohibited version
Normal Upgrade is not availbale in Secure downgrade prohibited version
So WTF is netflix anyway? That one
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netflix maybe ?
Are they in negotiations with Netflix currently about deploying VOD services directly on new samsung TVs ?
Can't find anything in the news..
If true, how wise is it for samsung, to disclose such kind of info (or will that be considered as insider trading) ?
"Don't upgrade for netflix request" ? This part sounds little weird to me.. what's the point in putting that in plain text to the final executable ? It's almost like a message-in-the-bottle from samsung developers: "don't blame us for this abomination, it's per Netflix request".
Or am I just imaginig things ?

That's interesting. So this whole "secure downgrade prohibited update" affair is probably about content providers, feeling insecure about their precious content. What a bunch of fussies

It's not just about PVR thing; I think their first "anti-Samygo" version was released ca 10th december 2009 (for US models)
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-13973_102-0 ... dID=372991
This version was screwed up initially; some users got the chance to downgrade - older, not yet restricted version was semi-officially distributed by service centre representatives, as temporay fix:
http://forum.samygo.tv/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=285
New EU version was packaged on 25/01/2010 (just ten days after PVR function was disclosed on the forum).
This time they tested it for 1+ month, before releasing it to the public
The only thing that will push me to upgrade to any future firmware will be DTS pass-through feature. Since they still don't have it, i will not upgrade.
DTS passthrough in future updates from Samsung? Dream on

It's totally against their policy (their policy apparently being : "let's screw our customers as much as we can"

).
Some new 3rd party widgets, maybe..
