ssh still results in crash and reboot. However, it seems like ssh accepts the root password before the TV crashes. In anyway, /etc/passwd has changed and looks correct.
The TV seems to be unstable and reboots sometimes even if I don't do anything. I don't think everything is correct yet.

Does telnet on port 23 work?

BTW, I replaced the newmount.ko at /mnt/lib/modules/3.8.13/kernel/drivers/pty/ with the new one. Was it the correct directory?

yeah, anyway it was easy to check. If /etc/passwd looks right it's good ;)

Okay I checked everything I could about newpty.ko module and I can't find any problem with it... everything was found correctly. Now that you have replaced new mount.ko please provide new samygo.log. Maybe that will get me closer to an answer why it doesn't work :)

samygo.log is attached.

When I start the TV, it will usually reboots after 3-4 minutes. A pop-up menu for SamyGO virt USB device will also appear, after the first start or after the reboot. I assume that the pop-up menu is normal, albeit a bit annoying.

The sleep timer settings are changed, but the sleep timer does not actually work. Also, the auto-off timers don't work correctly. When I tested the auto-off timer, TV turned off at the correct time, but rebooted again after a few seconds. The auto-on timer does seem to work, but I am not sure if it is fully reliable.

After I turn off the TV, it seems like it will wake up after a few hours. There will be no picture or sound, but USB devices are active and the TV will be contactable via telnet and ftp.

My suggestion is simple. Your TV reboots and doesn't work correctly because you USB is broken :) please try with different one. just replace new mount.ko and everything "should" work ;)
