I used cat. They should mount fine.
As for tests, depends how dangerous. I'm for anything so long as a bricking is not a likely outcome.
What do you have in mind?

Firstly - could you please open back panel and take high resolution photo of mainboard? General view and places with connectors (to T-CON, power, speakers..)

If you have SamyGO running on it, then yes, webif will work.

Well, we never went over what constituted "running" on my TV since a fair amount of modules don't work and the TV crashes.

it is safe enough to have SamyGO dir on USB, enter commands from shell...
It wont brick your TV. Definitely

The TV crashes and I have to reboot it.
