Hello world :) Thank you for this great forum,

I have a Samsung C530 and with the service mode menu hack I could change to model C550 to activate "allshare". My intention is to use a Dlink DWL-G122 HW Ver: C1 FW 3.0 that I had lying around for the tv. In ubuntu card works out of the box as it loads automatically the module rt73usb when I connect it. I did the iwpriv command without success (I didn't see a change with lsusb after entering the command and also, the message was "no private ioctls." after each command).

Anyway I want to compile the driver again to check if it works with manual compiling driver. I unloaded it with rmmod and I followed the instructions of samygo to compile the driver, but I have the following problem:

Code: Select all

cotarelo@laptop:~/Downloads/rt73-k2wrlz-3.0.3/Module$ sudo make
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-3.0.0-14-generic-pae'
  Building modules, stage 2.
  MODPOST 0 modules
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-3.0.0-14-generic-pae'
rt73.ko failed to build!
make: *** [module] Error 1
I can't continue. How can I fix this?

What do you mean? On wiki are wrong models 4ex. d-links. IMHO only compatible device still available is ew-7718un.

Please give me some hint.

After reading all post of the thread. I discovered that the DLINK DWL G-122 does not work properly after modifying VID/PID. However I'd like to try and contribute even if it bricks my dongle.

I also would like to ask if I can telnet to TV by console, I can upload modules and load them on tv so that finally the dongle works.

Thank you in advance

EW-7718UN i commonly known in Poland as working even on old firmwares without pid&vid change. I personaly tested ew-7718un and confirm that it works - this is RT2870. Edimax EW-7711UAn is rt3070 and i can state that my tv even after pid&vid change does not find any networks when i use card with this chip - i tested it on my own, and other users of this forum state that it does not work too.
EDIT:
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOppppsss: My dlink revision was RT5370 not RT3070 (like a1, a2). So maybe it will work. How ever ew-711UAn is doble price like ew-7718Un. And it is only Nlite so it is useless if you are going to stream large files with high bitrate.
