/dtv $
However, typing anything in these two terminals doesn't have any feedback. Ctrl+C doesn't work too. Are these ttys necessary?
Yes
Grief wrote: Can I disable them?
No
Grief wrote: And is it ok that "job control turned off" whatever does it mean?
It means "rooting successful, please for now use telnet on port 23
Grief wrote: 2. Actually I'd love to disable telnet at all as I prefer ssh which works too without an issue with the default credentials root/SamyGO. So is it safe to:
a) disable telnet daemons completely?
No
Grief wrote: b) change root password?
Yes

on these models (if you have smart hub) you should be able to "force tv" to install Skype and then the rooting will work :)
yes the tv has smarthub. that would be awsome, but how would i go about doing that? ive tried changing the region several times, eg: uk, canada, usa and still cant get skype to come up in smarthub.
here is something i found odd when i go to change my country region, after i set it to "full apps" there are no apps in smart hub anymore

No success on UE55H6600:

T-GFSDEUC 1172 : no telnet (5 reboots, Skype on "loading..." screen, no log)
T-GFSDEUC 1200 : no telnet (no reboot, Skype on "loading..." screen, no log)

Firmware overview can be found here (German): http://www.samsung-blog-news.de/2014/09 ... ebersicht/

Samsungs H-Series now has 7 firmware trunks of which "T-GFSDEUC" seems to take over some TVs from "T-MST" firmware. SamyGo development is getting harder... Hope you don't give up!

If you have 5 reboots it means TV rooted. Check log on USB there was no point in updating to 1200 ;)

After the 5 reboots with T-GFSDEUC 1172 I checked everything, incl. Telnet, FTP and the logfile ... nothing. After that I made a factory reset. Followed by upgrading with the very latest firmware ... wasn't this suggested by you in small letters?

I'll send the 6600 back to Amazon an will order an 6470. Have you received any success stories rooting T-GFSDEUC devices?

Isn't it a giant security hole? Anyone can connect to my TV as telnet doesn't ask for password even when it changed and simply rm -rf everything.

Discussion on this platform with some success, if you have missed: viewtopic.php?f=78&t=8536. That's why in my chart is it marked as partial root - successful root, but half functional. You can't confirm information in that thread?

Most of your TV is read only ;) You asked if you can "safely" disable telnet. From your point of view it looks like this: You live in a "bad neighborhood". People are hacking telnet on your TV and running "rm -rf everything"... Or second option you "protect" everything from your "bad neighborhood" and risk a TV brick :) What's your choice then ? :)

Well we still have problems with telnet on this model it's truth but users that have this firmware (whole GFS family) should ask that guy how he did it... From what I understand he did some "power cable magic" to have SamyGO working. In the begging he had same problems as you :)
