I needed to reinstall Skype after it was removed on June 02. Never tried Telnet or FTP. I gathered that root access is required for widget installation...

It depends on widgets, some *unofficial* can only be installed through FTP, otherwise no need.

The Widget does not need itself root access. It is the one which installs samygo and provides root access. The Setup isn't the problem but you won't have root access tho.

How can you even reinstall skype if it's not in the store anymore? Btw: And We don't need Skype for that.

Well , I will stick with donor root. It was a false alarm.

And in my case installation of SamyGO went smoothly (all green OKs).

Expected and not enough, unless you successfully connect to FTP/21, Telnet/23 or Netcat/4023

Yes, you can root, but not using current method (check firmware boundaries into 1st post) and that.
No, you can't downgrade, at least not without root.

I found the problem.
It was an defektiv USB-Stick. Suddently, I could't read anything from this stick.
New stick, new trial, everythings works now...

Newbie here as well, followed the instructions and installled ok on Fw 2007 but no ftp, so i assume no root, waiting for donations to return for donor root method.

yes. on FW 2007 it does not have root. Donor Root works.

Maybe such setups should test root after successfull installing, if root really works.
