I downloaded again the required files and will try with a second USB stick, probably tomorrow.
For the record,
WinMD5Free says that the MD5 checksums of the files are as follows:
Code: Select all
SamyGO.zip
21207c8f410032b4d11e866e13982ba7
InstallSamyGO-H.zip
83f757227d8963964a1c107f1326ad1a
samyext4.img.zip
2fd22073af5a135269d00c6e22fe2e4a
If someone who was successful with the procedure could verify these are correct, that would be awesome!

Could you show me directory where is it after root TV?
Thank you.
It's in the ext4 image located on USB, but mounted to TV memory
FTP to TV, it should be in
/mnt/etc/init.d with other init scripts, like on E/F series (04_04_samba.init)

And how is it done then?

From what I know it's done direcly on/by TV, no more (pseudo-)offline decoding as on E/F. However I'm surely not the best person to explain it, I have no H so I didn't try anything by myself (maybe I'm even wrong

)

Even though I own an H-series tv, I know a lot less than you, so don't worry

But I want to let you notice that in the 1st page of this thread

Isn't PVRDecoder a pc program?

Yes, but as the software on TV and the PVRDecoder must collaborate getting the job(s) done,
Sectroyer and I have had a working dialog going on the past few weeks.
Once Sectroyer "froze" his design, the PVRDecoder needed to learn a few new things.
The working flow for the H-model is entirely different from the flow for the E(S)- and F-models.
Apart from that, a few new features need refactoring before they face the public
Also, its hard to find H-mode testers

There is no solution to wait for USB broken

One thing that (might) help is to FULLY reformat USB because maybe (just maybe) ONLY file system is broken... But don't expect anything else to help

It was already confirmed by many beta testers "Input/Output error" -> change usb stick:)

@Deus3X,
Your 3 USB-devices may be just fine for use with your average PC.
BUT .. For your TV you should use nothing slower than USB 3.0 standard.
Also, USB-device must be FAT32 formatted while you install root,
but when root is well installed, you should either record to another
device formatted as EXT4, or reformat first device to EXT4 and copy
the root-files back on it again .. This allows both root and recordings on same device, if you need.

If you need "skilled" testers, then you're probably right. But if you only need normal testers, I guess there's plenty of H-series owners here. With me being one of them
I don't know if you have read my previous conversation with sectroyer, but in summary my needs are to decrypt my recordings and to continue to use Skype. As it turned out, this is not possible for the moment, but sectroyer said that he has something in mind, so I'll wait before rooting. Anyway, I was wondering if it is possible to have root working only "on demand". That's to say, can one root the tv, do whatever is needed to decrypt some recordings and then revert the tv as it was before? It may sound unconvenient, but if possible it would allow me to decrypt the recordings and still have a working Skype for the rest of the time. At least until the good sectroyer provides a proper alternative
