Thank you for providing this service to people who upgrade their firmware and need to downgrade again to remove Cinavia.

I have a Samsung BD-D5500 and recently upgraded to 1030 firmware, which has essentially made the BD unusable. I am aware reading off the forum I need to downgrade to B-BRCMBSP 1015 to remove the Cinavia restrictions on my unit and it should be successful.

However when I set the router and BD DNS to below, I get the below results,

149.154.159.134
(but get message "Connecting to network server..." then eventually get message "Failed to connect error code 601 Operation Timeout Error").
46.4.199.222
(but get message "Connecting to network server..." then eventually goes back to original menu with no success).

When I do not use DNS (disable DHCP) on router and set BD DNS as below, I get the below results,

149.154.159.134
(but get message "Connecting to network server..." then eventually get message "Failed to connect error code 601 Operation Timeout Error").
46.4.199.222
(but get message "Connecting to network server..." then quickly get message "No software to upgrade currently").

The BD-D5500 has a direct LAN cable connection to my router. I am using a Samsung 3D Smart Hub TV, with no internet connection.

Can you please give me some advice on how to connect and download the firmware successfully.

I made the unfortunate mistake to upgrade firmware of my blu ray player HTD5500, and now I want to downgrade. I have been reading through this topic and I have two main questions:

1. It is said that OTN should be enabled, but I cant find that setting anywhere. Is this only for tv?s?

2. I bought my blu ray player in the Netherlands. Can I also apply this patch/ fix? The reason I am asking, is becasue when I wanted to upgrade my firmware, I first took a firmware upgrade from samsung.com. That however did not work (my blu ray player did not recognize the upgrade files), I had to take firmware from the Dutch site (samsung.com/nl

That worked (unfortunately). I upgrade to 10.16. Can I apply this downgrade without being absolutely certain my blu ray player ends up as an brick as well? Just to be clear, I understand the risks of applying this patch, I have seen results of more unfortunate people that wanted to downgrade.

I am willing to take the risk though?

I have a BD-D5500 and not knowing the implications I upgraded the firmware to version 1030 and the nightmare started!!! Fucking cinavia! I thought I would have to throw the player out in the garbage, but fortunately I found this website.

I set the DNS server on my router to 149.154.159.134, I restarted it and at the same time I powered down the player, took the plug out for 10 seconds and started everything. It didn?t work and it actually took me 4 or 5 router and player restarts, but finally it worked just fine ? I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to version 1090, I confirmed and the BSP-D5500ZF-1015.5 version of the firmware got installed on my player

Three things that you need to keep in mind:

1. the DNS server 46.4.199.222 doesn?t work ? I couldn?t even ping it.
2. when you change the DNS server on your router to 149.154.159.134 check on your player the internet connection status ? it should say it can connect to the router but it can?t connect to the internet
3. you may have to restart the player and the router several times before everything works.

How do you set the DNS on the BD player? I don't think there even is a setting on the player to do that. Just set the DNS server on your router to 149.154.159.134 and when you check the status of the internet connection on the player it should say it can connect to the router but it can't connect to the internet and you should also see the address of DNS server: 149.154.159.134

Also, try pinging 149.154.159.134 and 46.4.199.222 from a regular command line and see what happens. I could ping the first one, but not the second one.

Also, connect a computer to your router and check the status of your TCP/IP, just go to the command line and type "ipconfig /all". You should see something like this:

I didn't even touch the DHCP settings - no need to.

I'm not sure what exactly the OTN is - maybe it stands for Over The Network ??? - but on your player go to Settings/Support/Software Upgrade and the entry on the bottom of that screen, at least on my player, is called Download in Standby Mode - I set it to ON and the whole procedure worked fine, so I guess that's it

If I connect my internet cable to my player in AUTO appears like this:
IP: 192.168.1.2
NETMASK: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1

So I changed to MANUALLY and add like this:
IP: 192.168.1.5 (I also tried left 192.168.1.2)
NETMASK: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 149.154.159.134

After I click OK, appears this message:
"Local connection completed, but cannot connect to the Internet.
Check the DNS settings from Network Setting ..."

Than I try to update my firmware via Internet and appears the message:
"Connecting to network server..."

And finally appears:
"No software to upgrade currently."

What Im doing wrong? Please help...

What do you mean by AUTO? This shows the DNS server to be 192.168.1.1 - that's no good. You should change the DNS server on your router before you do anything else. Is AUTO a setting on your router?

Again, what's MANUALLY? Is this a setting on your router?

Anyway, try this:

0. before you do anything, make sure you can ping 149.154.159.134 - on the computer that is connected to your router go to the command line and type ping 149.154.159.134 - you should get 4 responses back, if you don't get 4 responses it means you can't see the DNS server...
1. log in to the admin website for your ROUTER (should be http://192.168.1.1) and change the DNS to 149.154.159.134 - the admin website will probably ask you for the username / password - default is admin / admin
2. disconnect the player from the router and from the electric socket
3. restart your router - there should be an option on the admin website to do that
4. plug in the player, start it and connect it to the router
5. on the player go to Settings / Network Status - it should say that the DNS server is 149.154.159.134 and that the player can connect to the router, but it can't connect to the internet

Did you get that far?

Not sure which screen you're on... You should go to Settings / Support / Software Upgrade, where you can see the Current Version .

OK, so here is the screen where you can check the status of your internet connection, choose Network Status:
Now you should see a screen that looks more or less like this:
It should show that your player is connected to your router, but it can't connect to the internet. The MAC address is not important, the IP address should be 192.168.1.2 - the last digit may be different if your router assigns it a different address from the pool, the subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0, the gateway should say 192.168.1.1 and the DNS server should say 149.154.159.134 - did you get that far?

Now you should get to the Software Upgrade screen:
On my screen you see that I have the 1015 version installed, but yours will say something like /00_001030
The Option on the bottom of the screen Download in Standby Mode should be set to ON.

Now you should be able to choose the option By Internet and the player should download the 1090 version which has the 1015.5 version inside.

If you get any error message or if it says there is no new version to download, keep restarting the router and the player until it says that a 1090 version is available for download.

But you misunderstood what I tried to say, or it was my fault has english is not my primary language hehe
All the changes that I did in my IP, submask, etc... was in the player, never touch in my router settings and anyone needs to do that.

I already solved my problem and my firmware is back to 1015, THANK YOU SO MUCH arris69
I will explain what I did to solve my problem.

I had the firmware 1025, and for that reason appeared the message "No software to upgrade currently."
Than I thought to upgrade from 1025 to last version 1030 so I did.
And after I was with firmware 1030, I tried everything again and a NEW firmware 1090 finally appeared to download

So the problem was the firmware version that I had installed in my player hehe

I have a Samsung BD-D5300 and also have the same problem from Cinavia as others. Having in mind to fix a minor problem with a codec, I did an upgrade to the version SWU_B-BRCM53BSP_001019_I05_ES000KS000RS000DS000BS000_111026 and fu ..ed off my BD.

Definitely I will do the downgrade but just would like to know if the v.1015 is compatible with all the blurays or the bluray itself select automatically the appropriate version of firmware?
